Putting trust in Richard for financial guidance

Following on with our introduction to the Trustees of the Foundation to the membership we focus on RICHARD SIMMONDS.

For the past two years, the Foundation’s finances have been in the safe hands of Richard Simmonds.

Richard lives with his wife Adele and their two children Bethany and Sam in Telford. Bethany – who is seven - has CdLS.

“Of course, like everyone else we were shattered when found that she had CdLS,” Richard said. “But we were given Maggie Ireland’s number by the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital the day after Bethany was born and she gave us details about the Foundation and we got in touch.

Richard volunteered to help with the organisation of the Stratford conference in 1997 and then offered to become a Trustee.

When he is not running the Foundation’s finances or at his day job with the MoD agency ABRO, Richard likes to be on the Lilleshall Hall golf course (he plays off 13) or watching the fortunes of his favourite football team – Shrewsbury Town. “I do spend some time at home,” he says. His current project involves building a playground in the garden of their new house.

Richard and Adele are keeping up a family tradition of having babies in World Cup years as he and Adele are expecting their third child this summer – the others were born in 1994 and 1998.
