| | | | | | | | On message: Victoria finds the voicepad fascinating. | | | | New ideas for helping your CdLS child of whatever age improve speech and language are always welcome and new technology may have just delivered a special one. Foundation chairman, Alan Peaford, has been in touch with Hampshire manufacturers Rexcom to test out some voicepads. The technology is the one used in birthday cards where you can record your own greetings. We had a bunch of flowers arrive with a voicepad, said Alan. Victoria, our CdLS daughter, was fascinated by it and began recording people and repeating what they were saying. I suddenly thought that this would be a brilliant way of helping people make simple recordings. Alan contacted the firm and had some plain voicepads delivered. He tried them out with youngsters with learning and speech difficulties at Treetops School in Essex. The kids and the teacher loved them. Online Each pad takes a 10-second re-recordable message. The user simply presses an inbuilt button to record and another to play. The kids soon got the hang of it and were fascinated, said Alan. If you want to order a pad they are available from the Foundation office for £5 including postage and packing or online from www.voicepad.co.uk |
